About Me

I’m Shane, and I’m attending from of North Dakota. I live here with my wife, 3 kids (13, 10, 5), and 2 dogs (12, 5).

I hold Bachelor of Arts degrees in Computer Science and Business Education and had been looking at attaining a Masters in Educational Leadership in order to get my Principals credentials. When I found the Masters of Educational Technology degree at Boise State University, however, and saw the courses, I decided to go for it.  It seems like such a fun melding of the Computer Science and Business Ed background I already have.

I currently work as an instructor at a correctional institution where I teach some elective computer skills classes as well as some GED/Adult ed classes. Our primary goal is the attainment of GEDs for incarcerated individuals who don’t have one.  With the rest of the world constantly moving towards things both educational and otherwise being online, I think that our current situation (no access to internet) will need to change sooner rather than later.  I’m hoping that with the addition of some secure solutions in the next year or two, that I’ll be able to use some of what I learn here to help develop programs that help us get those GED passers while opening up doors for additional skills learning.
